Ive been a Christ follower for the majority of my life and grew up Catholic, so this means traditions, rituals, and many man made rules to folllow... is this what God wants? I dont think so, as a baby I was "sprinkled" with water blessed by the priest with my parents at my side ( I assume) and 2 witnesses. As an adult now, I understand the word of God and know that Christ calls us to be water baptised, leaving the old man under the watery grave and arising out of the water as a new creation. I recently was water baptized and such an explosion of joy filled my heart that I could not contain it, that after it was over I had the giggles for nearly a week, not only was I washed clean I set forth an example and declaration that I am a Christ Follower and I am living my life for Him and Him alone. Since then I am a changed man, what is greater than this? A second chance, a new begining! Thank You Jesus for your love, mercy and forgiveness!!
When we accept Christ into our lives we make a bold proclomation that we would like to live our lives in the likeness of Jesus Christ (our perfect role model) and when we make this statement we also say that YES we will do what the bible tells us, we will make a responsible decisions and even take steps to make sure that we are walking in the likeness and boldness of Christ. We take on baptism as a sign of a cleansing /repentance and washing away of our sins, we are saying that YES we leave behind the old nature of our sins and past and we take on a new identity of the man/woman that Christ has called us to be and live our lives reflecting that very idea.
So is Baptism Necessary? Well would you want to continue to live with all your sins upon your back like pounds of dirty luggage weighing your back down constantly? The bible tells us this :"Romans 6:4 (New International Version)
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

Many people question, aren't I still saved even though I don't get baptized? Will I go to Hell if I don't get the sanctification of baptism? Is salvation complete without baptism?

What do you think? is it necessary ?

Hi I am new here and wanted to leave a quick comment concerning baptism.

I believe that baptism is only a symbol for self gratification. I do believe that you are and can be saved without doing all that stuff, getting wet and getting out of the water with your clothes sticking to your body. How embarrassing.
If I am wrong someone please let me know. I don't see all the importance.

Salvation doesn't revolve around baptism, if that was the case then others would run out to get baptized every time they sin or fall. Right?!

personally i dont think that you are going to be doomed to hell if you are not baptized.
when it all comes down to it, it is your heart that really matters to God.
only you and God really know what your heart looks like. getting baptized it a good thing because is says in the bible that if we believe it in are hearts and speak it with are tongues then we are saved.
getting baptized is a good thing because you are showing that you are not ashame of God in front of others but you truely are a follower of God. even Jesus got baptized.
to reply to what you said "salvation is not revolved around baptizism because everyone would run and get baptized every time they sinned"... that is not how it was meant to be... you are to get baptized to let go of the old and start with the new like Marino said... once you have done that you are a new person. you dont want to sin anymore... but no one is perfect and everyone still sins... yet you are already forgiven if you repent to God. that doesnt mean you have to run and get baptized every sin you ever commit...
